About Us

Timothy Thielges founded Avant Gardens in 1992, his goal being to create environments in which people could relax and feel good about themselves.  In the time since it's inception, Avant Gardens has completed over 120 projects, ranging from large commercial botanical gardens to residential waterfalls, ponds, walkways, and walls.

His ability to be the master of several aspects of landscape design and installation allow Tim to provide a complete solution to his customers' needs.

Originally from Canby, Minnesota, Tim's experience in Landscape Design has encompassed all of his adult life extending back 25 years. As a youth working in local nurseries he recognized his love for plants and the outdoors and as a result, sought further education.

As a young man, Tim became accredited in Landscape Technology.  Since that time he spent 2 years working at Patio Town and 11 years working at Bachman's. The combination of his education and experience gives Tim the breadth to tackle just about any job with fine artistic results.  

In addition to his experience in landscape design, Tim has a keen interest in exotic and unusual plants that he raises for both his interest and the needs of  his customers.

Avant Garden employees are skilled craftsmen and artists in stonework. They approach each project individually, making a unique artistic statement with each installation.

Avant Gardens uses materials from Green Value Nursery, providing a broad range plants for project requirements.
